Template talk:Medieval and Renaissance literature

This template appears to disrupt the table of contents function and needs fixing. For example, see Arabic literature or any article which transcludes this template at the top. 84user (talk) 14:22, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot see any obvious problem regarding this template and the ToC. I checked a few pages the template is transcluded to, and they all looked fine. The code in the template looks very normal/simple, and nothing unusual is there (the noincludes are standard). What exactly is the problem you are seeing? Have you tried clearing your cache and refreshing the page? (ctrl-f5) -- Quiddity (talk) 22:32, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I should explain. The hide link in the table of contents (TOC) does not function whenever {{History of literature3}} is anywhere in the first section (before the first "==" section header). This revision of Matter of Britain or Arabic literature are examples. I can click on the Contents "hide" and it changes to "show" but the TOC remains open. This happens on latest Firefox, old Netscape 9.0.0.6 (to reproduce Firefox 2 problems) and Opera 9.63 browsers, also when logged out and after cache clearing. Using Windows Vista. The template "behaves" Ok when it is in subsequent sections, as far as I can tell. 84user (talk) 01:00, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Freaky table code. I replaced it with the {{sidebar}} container. Hopefully noone objects. -- Quiddity (talk) 04:15, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I won't object. Before changing to sidebar you removed "id=toc" from the template - did that not fix the problem? I tried your intermediate fix with Template:Indian literature plus "border:1px solid grey;" added to the style, and it seems to work in the articles that transclude it, such as Marathi literature. 84user (talk) 00:32, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'd been updating a few of the social science sidebars to use {{sidebar}} recently (sandbox), so when I saw the border disappear I figured I'd take the opportunity to update these also. Feel free to implement your solution instead. (I only got around to updating 2 of the HistOfLit templates, and might not have time to do the rest anytime soon. Feel free to check those too. :) -- Quiddity (talk) 17:41, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
