Die Alkoholkrankheit (auch Alkoholabhängigkeit, Äthylismus, Dipsomanie, Potomanie, Trunksucht, Alkoholsucht oder Alkoholismus genannt) ist die Abhängigkeit von Alkohol, insbesondere der psychotropen SubstanzEthanol (Äthylalkohol).
Gemäß WHO-Schätzung hatten Stand 2016 weltweit 2,6 % aller Personen ab dem Alter von 15 Jahren eine Alkoholabhängigkeit.[1]
