The Wire is an American crime drama television series created by former reporter David Simon. It is set and produced in Baltimore, Maryland. The series began airing on the premium cable network HBO on June 2, 2002 and ended March 9, 2008. It had 60 episodes in five seasons.

The characters are divided into six groups: the law, the politicians, the street, the schools, the docks, and the paper.
