Marginal sea

A marginal sea is a part of an ocean that is between the coastal zone and open ocean.[1] Such a sea is partly enclosed by land and not as deep as the open ocean.[2] There are many named marginal seas.[3] However, there is some disagreement on what makes a sea a marginal sea or not.[4]
