Poa[2] merupakan sebuah genus yang mengandungi kira-kira 570 spesies rumput dalam keluarga Poaceae, asalnya dari kawasan beriklim sederhana di kedua-dua hemisfera. Nama-nama biasa termasuk rumput padang (terutamanya di Eropah dan Asia), rumput biru (terutamanya di Amerika Utara), tussock (beberapa spesies di Selandia Baru), dan rumput tombak. Poa (πόα) bermaksud 'pakan' dalam bahasa Greek. Poa adalah ahli subkeluarga Pooideae dalam keluarga Poaceae.[3][4][5][6][7]

Rumput biru, yang mempunyai daun hijau, mendapat namanya daripada kepala biji, yang berwarna biru apabila tumbuhan dibiarkan tumbuh setinggi dua hingga tiga kaki (0.6 hingga 0.9 meter) dengan sendirinya.[8][9][10]

Genus Poa termasuk spesies tahunan dan berumur panjang. Kebanyakan adalah monoecious, tetapi beberapa adalah dioecious (tumbuhan lelaki dan perempuan berasingan).
