The stater (/ˈsttər, stɑːˈtɛər/;[1] Ancient Greek: στατήρ, pronounced [statɛ̌ːr], romanizedstatḗr, lit.'weight') was an ancient coin used in various regions of Greece. The term is also used for similar coins, imitating Greek staters, minted elsewhere in ancient Europe.
