Southampton [saʊθˈæmptən] ist eine bedeutende Hafenstadt im Vereinigten Königreich Großbritannien und Nordirland an der Südküste Englands im County Hampshire. Sie liegt am Southampton Water, der Flussmündung des Test und des Itchen in den Ärmelkanal. Die Stadt hat 252.872 Einwohner. Sie ist als Metropolregion mit anderen Orten rund um den Solent locker zur Southampton Urban Area (856.000 Einwohner) zusammengeschlossen.
